Report Cards Get A New Look... Check Out The Family Guide!

December, 2017

Dear Families:

On Friday, December 8th students will receive a report card showing their progress in district learning standards. Our teachers have worked over the last two years revising our district report cards to reflect our most up to date curriculum standards, teaching practices and assessment strategies. A Family Guide (click here for a sneek peek to report card) to the report card is designed to help you understand the new grading system and to share the many ways that teachers assess student progress in the district learning standards.  Several embedded links connect to the benchmarks, rubrics and assessments that our teachers use to assess student achievement.

We hope that you find this information useful. I welcome you to contact me with your comments and questions about this new format.

Proposed Early Release Fridays

From the PTA:

You may have heard that the school district is considering early-release one day per week (release at 1:30 pm, probably on Fridays) beginning next year.  The time would be used for teachers to attend curriculum meetings and collaboration sessions, which they now attend during the school day while substitute teachers are in the classroom.  All the half days currently in our schedule would be eliminated.  The proposal and the rationale is described quite thoroughly in the Greenfield Recorder article I have added below in this email.
