Dear Sunderland Families,
Is there anything more beautiful than watching young children engaged in free play? There very well might be, but recess is certainly one of the most special and important times of the day at Sunderland Elementary School. Free play helps to promote development in so many different areas. Kids build cognitive, social, and self-regulation skills, while also learning about conflict resolution, problem solving, and planning. The skills that students gain when they are up and moving, help to form the building blocks for future success in all aspects of their lives. Staying with this topic, our next early childhood playground renovation meeting is taking place on Friday, December 14 at 4:00 pm. We will be meeting with town officials to discuss the overall scope of this project. If you are interested in joining in on the discussion, please do so! The meeting will take place in our school library.
