Since 1998, The Garden: A Center for Grieving Children and Teens has been working with youth following the death of someone close. We will all experience a death at some point in our lives. One in five children will have this experience by age 18 (Journal of Death and Dying). When a young person experiences the death of someone close, their grief is often overlooked, or even dismissed. At The Garden, we bring families together who have each experienced the death of someone close and support them as they make their way on their grief journey. The Garden also support communities to help them cope with a loss, whether it is a school, church or agency community.
Topics to be addressed include:
Grief in our bodies. Talking about the death to youth, Helping youth feel safe, Developing a feelings vocabulary and Remembering someone close.
Time will be made for question and answers.
