Who completed the questionnaire?

  • There were a total of 274 respondents as of Monday, April 6, 2015
  • 97 respondents had at least one child in early elementary (Pk-2)
  • 126 respondents had at least one child in upper elementary (3-6)
  • 62 respondents had at least one child in middle school
  • 93 respondents had at least one child in high school

 

What are the results?

  • 132 out of the 274 respondents (48%) selected “I support the plan as presented”
  • 42 respondents (15%) selected “ I support the plan but would like to see fewer than 30 early release Fridays.”
  • 33 respondents (12%) were “undecided”
  • 69 respondents (25%) would like to “keep the current schedule”
  • 63% of respondents supported the plan or supported the plan with fewer Fridays.

 

What were the results of families with different aged children?

  • Families with at least one child in grades Pk-2   
    (38% yes, 20% yes with fewer, 17% undecided, 24% No)
  • Families with at least one child in grades 3-6      
    (48% yes, 11% yes with fewer, 14% undecided, 27% No)
  • Families with at least one child in middle school
    (43% yes, 21% yes with fewer, 9% undecided, 27% No)
  • Families with at least on child in high school       
    (56% yes, 13% yes with fewer, 10% undecided, 21% No)

Families with at least one child in high school had the highest percent of yes and yes with fewer (69%) followed by middle school with (64%). Families with at least one Pk- 2 child (58%) and a child in grades 3-6 (59%) were comparable. The range for families that did not like the plan and wanted to keep the calendar the same was 21% (families with a child in high school) to 27% (families with at least one middle school child or a child in grades 3-6).
