IMPORTANT update from the FRSU38 Nursing team and our school physician at Northampton Area Pediatrics (NAP)

NAP has issued the following recommendation on play dates during this time. They are strongly recommending that children not visit other children outside the immediate family. Under current conditions, the best way for us to slow down the spread of this virus is to stay at home.

The Importance of Social Distancing:

MDPH Commissioner Bharel emphasized the importance of social distancing as a strategy to blunt the spread and severity of COVID-19 in the community.

Social Distancing is a critical action we all need to take to prevent spread of Covid-19 and to protect our friends, families, neighbors and community from illness.

3/10/2020 Family Letter

Dear Families,

I am writing to update you on the status of our response to the coronavirus. We continue to work closely with the Department of Public Health and local health officials to mitigate any potential risks to our students and the larger community.

While COVID-19 is a public health concern, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Massachusetts Department of Public Health continue to report that the immediate risk to the general public remains low as of this date. To be prepared, the school is planning for the likelihood of a disruption in our usual routines this spring.

3/14/2020 Coronavirus Update frs

Dear Families,

In order to allow for adequate social distancing to help protect vulnerable populations due to COVID-19, I have made the decision to close Frontier Regional/Union #38 schools for a minimum of two weeks beginning next Monday, March 16. This means schools will be closed with a tentative return date of Monday, March 30.  These closures will give the administrative team and our local board of health officials the opportunity to evaluate the current conditions and respond to the spread of the coronavirus.
