River Valley Day Camp Decision to Close

Dear River Valley Day Camp (RVDC) summer camp families,

Thank you for your patience and commitment to RVDC’s summer program as we have navigated these unprecedented and unpredictable times. With much thoughtful consideration, and given the uncertainty of current conditions, we have come to the heartbreaking decision to close River Valley Day Camp 2020.

For several weeks, the RVDC staff has been working hard anticipating and strategizing ways to open camp with safety as the utmost importance. After reviewing the Massachusetts Camp Requirements for Health and Safety that were released on June 1, 2020, we feel that these requirements will greatly influence the quality of our program. With higher staff/child ratios, purchasing more materials, cleaning and sanitizing supplies, no touch thermometers, etc., plus lower enrollment due to Covid-19, it will also make it financially impractical to open this year.

I know how disappointing this is to you and your camper. The staff and I are also disappointed that we will not have the opportunity to share our program with you this summer. We are already counting the days until we see you next summer.

If you have paid any tuition for RVDC this summer, you will be issued a refund or this amount can be used for summer 2021. Checks that have not been deposited can be returned, shredded, or can be used towards summer 2021 to hold a spot. Please contact Sarah Butler (sarah.butler@frus38.org) for any payment status information or refunds.

Please email me with any questions or concerns.  (janet.seredejko@frus38.org).

We wish you a summer of fun and new opportunities.

Best

Janet Seredejko

Director of RVDC
