Welcome to the Deerfield Out of School Program
The before school program runs from 7 am until 8:30 am. During this time, children engage in physical play in the gym for an hour. They have the choice to play large group games or to play with smaller groups of children. If needed they can also sit quietly and engage in quieter activities. The children themselves run the games. We have two staff that engage with the children every morning. A small breakfast is offered as an option to all children from 8-8:30 in the cafeteria. During this time, children eat breakfast and can play board games, card games, color etc.
The after school program runs from 3-5:30 pm and is a much larger group of children and staff. During after school, children from grades kindergarten through sixth grade will participate in outside time, have a small nutritious snack and engage in activity time and free choice time. During activity time, our activities may include art projects, cooking, sewing, gym time, science/engineering and the occasional field trip. We also offer homework support Monday-Thursday for those children that choose to do their homework at the program. The children of the program choose monthly/yearly themes and that is what we base our projects on. Our program offers children the ability to grow in a social setting with children of all ages.
