Family Resources on Race

Dear Families,

With all that is going on in the world right now, it can be difficult to know how to broach these topics with your own children. This letter contains some ideas for starting these conversations with your child, as well as ways to begin to address the issues of race, equity, and take action in your home everyday.

Please preview the resources and decide as a family which meet the needs of your context and your child. We hope you can find below a resource as an entry point to help you and your family during these times.  More HERE https://bit.ly/FamilyResourceRace

Message to Our Community FrontierU38

The Towns of Conway, Deerfield, Sunderland, and Whately

We write to you today from a place of shared grief and pain over the tragic death of Mr. George Floyd. Pain over the tragic events that have transpired in Minneapolis and the many cities and towns across our nation. Pain over this senseless tragedy as we turn our collective attention to the perpetual problem of racial inequalities being amplified by incidences of senseless police brutality in America. We recognize many members of our community are grieving and we offer solace to you all.

4/22/2020 School Closed for Remainder of Year

Dear Families,

Earlier today, Governor Baker announced his decision to close school and continue home learning for the remainder of the school year. I know there are many questions about the impact of this decision on end-of-year activities and what it may look like to return to normalcy. Later this week, I will be sending out an update that will attempt to address some of your questions and that outlines the decisions to come.

I wish everyone good health and happiness during this spring break.

Darius Modestow, Superintendent

River Valley Day Camp Update!

River Valley would like to express gratitude to all our families and thank you for your patience. The camp guidelines from the state have still not been released. We will review these guidelines once we receive them and evaluate if we are able to meet the guidelines to provide a safe and engaging program for the children. Programs will all have to follow strict guidelines for safety, cleaning, screening, social distancing, mask and equipment usage and activity expectations and restrictions, All Staff will all be trained in these new expectations and protocols. The board of health and the office of Early Education and Care will be monitoring program openings and operations. Please bear with us while we gather this information.

We will make a decision as soon as possible.

Please stay safe and enjoy the beautiful spring weather.
